Public Investment Fund

Definition
A fund established in 1971 by the government of Saudi Arabia to facilitate the growth and development of its economy through investments in joint-stock ventures within its domestic economy. A separate sovereign wealth fund was established within the PIF with the objective of investing for long term gains in equities, bonds, commodities and foreign currencies.
