Ceded Reinsurance Leverage

Definition
A ratio calculating a company's dependence on security provided by its reinsurers and the potential impact of reinsurance on the company's financial health. It is the ratio of ceded reinsurance premiums, added to net ceded reinsurance balances from non-US affiliates for paid, unpaid, and incurred but not reported (INBR) losses, as well as unearned premiums and commissions, with funds withheld from reinsurers deducted from the total. Ceded reinsurance balances added to the policyholders' surplus are added to this subtotal.
