Long Term Capital Management (LTCM)

Definition
A large hedge-fund established by John Meriwether in 1993. The hedge fund began with over $1 billion in assets with a focus on bond trading. As a result of high-risk trading strategies, LTCM is credited with the near collapse of the global financial system in 1998.
