Positive Butterfly

Definition
A shift in the yield curve of a particular type of bond when the interest rates on the shorter term and longer term bonds increase at a faster pace than the interest rates on the medium term bond. For example, if the interest rates for the three year and ten year a bonds increase 1% while the interest rate for the five year bond remains the same, a positive butterfly has been created. Opposite of negative butterfly.
