Linked Exchange Rate System

Definition
A strategy whereby a country links its currency's exchange rate to another national currency. A fixed ratio of the pegged currency is held in deposit at domestic banks. Currency can then only be issued against equivalent reserves of the linked currency. This strategy might be used to stabilize currency and control inflation.
