Crony Capitalism

Definition
A situation in which a supposedly free-market process, such as a competitive bid for government construction contracts, is influenced by factors such as personal relationships or bribes. Crony capitalism is considered contrary to the spirit of a free market, since contracts may be awarded for reasons other than lower prices or superior quality.
