Consumer Cyclical

Definition
A group of stocks whose performance depends on the business cycle. Consumers cyclical are often luxurious goods as people spend more of these goods during periods of expansion and spend less during recession. An example is the stock for automobile companies, when consumer confidence in the economy is high, sales for automobiles are also increasing, however, during economic downturns, consumer delay their automobile purchases, thus sales for automobiles also suffer.
