Impulse Wave Pattern

Definition
A pattern observed in the stock market as part of the Elliot Wave Principle (a theory that suggests the cyclic nature of market movements can be predicted based on an understanding of investor psychology). Waves or surges of movement seem to occur in the same direction as the overall trend of the stock market over time, whether upward or downward.
