Sale And Repurchase Agreement (SRA)

Definition
A financial agreement established by the bank of Canada with the aim of regulating overnight interest rates and amending money supply. The Bank of Canada carries out SRA by selling its stocks to banks with an agreement that it will repurchase these stocks the next day. The action ensures that interest rates change conversely affects money supply.
