Whole Pool

Definition
A term applied when a pool of mortgage securities is purchased or owned in its entirety by a single investor as opposed to being parceled out to multiple investors. In the period before the mortgage crisis of 2008, investment banks created mortgage-backed securities from whole pools of mortgages that were then sold off in parts to investors.
