Weighted Average Remaining Term (WART)

Definition
The number of months remaining before the maturity of a pool of mortgage-backed securities stated as an average of all the securities in the pool and weighted by the amount of the remaining principle balance of each security. Used as a measure of the rate of prepayment by mortgage holders. Also called weighted average remaining maturity (WARM).
