Recital

Definition
A statement defining the consideration involved in a transaction. For example, a deed does not require consideration for title to be passed, but most experts recommend reciting consideration, especially to support any covenants, restrictions, or promises made in the deed itself. Frequently the consideration recited is not the actual consideration eventually offered; the words "for good and valuable consideration" frequently appear as a recital statement.
