A modified cap-weighted index published by the Keefe, Bruyette & Woods investment bank that tracks the stocks of 24 major banking companies such as Bank of America and Citigroup. It is used as a benchmark for the banking, insurance and financial sectors, and traded in the Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) using the ticker symbol BKX. Also called Keefe Bank Index or KBW Bank Sector Index.
