Tangible Book Value Per Share (TBVPS)

Definition
A method of valuing a company that excludes intangible assets, such as good will. To compute TBVPS, divide total tangible assets by the total number of shares outstanding. This is the value per share if the company were to go bankrupt and have to liquidate its assets. Intangible assets are not included in this calculation because they would be meaningless if a company were to go bankrupt.
