Singapore Exchange (SGX)

Definition
The sole stock exchange in Singapore, formed in 1999 from the merger of the Singapore International Monetary Exchange (SIMEX) and the Stock Exchange of Singapore (SES). It is the first exchange in Asia where both securities and derivatives are traded on the same exchange. As of 2007 there were 762 companies listed on the exchange. Two indices that track the exchange are the Strait Times Index and the FTSE ST Index Series.
