After-tax Equity Yield

Definition
The yield on an investment in real estate that occurs after subtracting taxes and other charges. Calculated by taking the proceeds from the real estate sale, then subtracting expenses such as the remaining mortgage, and then adding back in the cash flow that the real estate generated while the individual owned it. Then, the total taxes owed on the profit from the sale are also subtracted, as well as on any of the cash flow, and the result is expressed as a percentage of the original investment.
