Point Balance

Definition
At the end of a calendar month, a point balance statement is created to indicate the profits and losses of the open futures contracts that are held by an investor. Point balances that are issued by a futures commission merchant are based on the official closing or statement prices of futures contracts that are held within the portfolio of the investor. This statement is also used to provide the investor with a summary of the overall health of their portfolio.
