Net Value

Definition
The value of the assets in a company, an estate or an investment portfolio after accounting for all liabilities. Mutual funds use the term "net asset value" (NAV) to describe the value their portfolios net of fund liabilities and expenses, and companies use the term "book value" to describe the shareholder equity value.
