Floating Charge

Definition
A liability, such as a mortgage or a lien, against an asset whose total value or composition may be subject to change. No charge is placed against the asset except in case of a default, in which case the lien-holder or mortgage-holder must be paid first from proceeds resulting from sale of the asset.
