Definition
A bond sold in Canada by foreign financial institutions that gives domestic investors in Canada an opportunity to invest in foreign companies without having to worry about the effects of any exchange fluctuations in currency. Typically, maple bonds may be used by foreign companies for the purpose of raising capital to set up their operations in Canada. These bonds are denominated in Canadian dollars.
