London Stock Exchange (LSE)

Definition
The main stock exchange of the United Kingdom where stocks, bonds, and other financial instruments are sold on a day-to-day basis. One of the oldest and largest exchanges in the world, its traces its origins back to 1773. The London Stock Exchange utilizes telecommunication and electronic resources to accept and execute trades. The Financial Times Stock Exchange (FTSE) 100 Share Index (or "Footsie") is the dominant index of the LSE. It has two equity markets, the Main Market and the Alternative Investment Market where international stocks are traded. Normal trading sessions are from 8:00am-4:30pm local time, Mondays through Fridays.
