CMT Index

Definition
Constant Maturity Treasury Index. The weekly or monthly average yields of U.S. Treasury securities. A CMT index is adjusted to constant maturities. CMT Indexes tend to respond quickly to changes in economic conditions, and move in close correlation with the general market. The most widely used CMT Index is of Treasuries with a maturity of one year, and is used in calculating adjustable rate mortgages.
