Definition
1. The process of transferring deposits from a failed savings institution to a healthy one. Usually, this will involve a fee.
2. The process by which a landlord transfers a tenant's deposit to another party. This can occur when one tenant subleases to another. Assuming the terms of the contract are not breached, the new party will be the recipient of the deposit at the end of the contract period.
