Credit Freeze

Definition
1. A lockdown on a consumer's credit report. During a credit freeze, outside agencies are not permitted to access the file unless the consumer allows it to happen. 2. A situation where the availability of cash provided by lending institutions is put on hold. During this time, consumers and businesses requiring loans will find it hard to get approved despite creditworthiness, and banks typically stop or slow down lending to other banks.
