Fixed-income Style Box

Definition
A visual representation, created by investment research firm Morningstar, Inc., of the full spectrum of bonds and bond mutual fund types available on the market. Nine squares placed in a box pattern with a horizontal axis (short, intermediate, and long-term maturity categories) and vertical (high, medium, and low credit quality) represent the various bonds offered with different risk-return ratios. This diagram allows a fixed-income investor to quickly ascertain which bonds and funds will best fit their specific portfolio goals.
