Rogue Trader

Definition
Individual employed by a brokerage firm that makes unauthorized and reckless trades on behalf of the employer that result in large losses for the firm. A rogue trader will try to hide the independent trades that he or she authorizes, but eventually the trades are identified and criminal actions are brought against the individual. A company may go bankrupt depending on the actions and losses of the rogue trader.
